SPORTS AND ACTIVITIES


Travel Insurance Direct covers a range of sports and hazardous activities, some applicable to all policies and some only available when the appropriate policy and / or an addition premium has been paid.

 

In all cases you are required at all times to wear the appropriate safety equipment for that activity (for example, protective clothing and/or suitable head protection). There is no cover for Personal Liability where the claim is related to vehicle, watercraft or aircraft activities.

 

Activities available on all policies:

The following sports and hazardous activities are included in all our policies at no additional cost.

 

Group 1 - Incidental Activities

You are automatically covered for these activities provided that the activity is on a casual, unplanned or Incidental Basis and not the main purpose of your trip.
  • Archery
  • Badminton
  • Banana / Doughnut Boating
  • Basketball
  • 1 x Bungee Jump
  • Camel Riding
  • Canoeing
  • Clay Pigeon Shooting
  • Conservation / Charity Work
    (Educational or Environmental / working with hand tools only)
  • Cricket
  • Cycling (Incidental)
  • Deep Sea Fishing
  • Glacier Walking
  • Golf
  • Hiking / Rambling / Trekking (to 4000m)
  • Horse Riding (Incidental) (not polo, jumping, or hunting)
  • Hot Air Ballooning
  • Husky Sledge Riding
  • Inshore Sailing (within 12 miles of the coastline)
  • Jet boating
  • Jet Skiing
  • Kayaking (up to Grade 4)
  • Kite Surfing over water
  • Manual Work (Ground Level, No machinery)

  • Mountain Biking (Incidental)

Group 2 - Incidental Activities

These activities are covered provided the activity is on a Casual, Unplanned or Incidental Basis and Not the Main Purpose of your Trip. Claims relating to these activities will be subject to 50% reduction in Personal Accident Benefits, and Medical Expenses Excess increased to £300.

 

  • Abseiling
  • Boxing Training
  • Elephant Riding
  • Football (Amateur)
  • Hiking (4000m to 6000m)
  • Hockey (Amateur)
  • Kayaking (over grade 4)
  • Martial Arts Training
  • Motor Cycling or Quad biking up to 125cc
  • Netball (Amateur)
  • Rugby (Amateur)
  • Safaris booked locally(no firearms)
  • White Water Rafting (Grades 5 & 6)

 

Group 3 - Regular Activities

These activities are covered when participation is on a regular, non-casual basis or are the main purpose of Your trip. Claims relating to these activities will be subject to a 50% reduction in Personal Accident cover and Medical Expenses Excess increased to £300.

  • Charity / Conservation work, working with hand tools only.
  • Cycling (Touring)
  • Go Karting
  • Fruit Picking
  • Golf*
  • Husky Sledge Riding
  • Inshore Sailing
  • Jogging
  • Kayakking (up to Grade 4)
  • Marathons
  • Mountain Bike Touring
  • Regular Horse Riding / Pony Trekking
  • Sailing Holidays (No air sea rescue, within 12 miles of the coastline)
  • Scuba Diving to 30m
  • Snow park activities (provided Wintersports premium is paid.)
  • Supervised overland Safaris (Booked UK, No firearms)
  • Surfing
  • Sleigh Riding
  • Trekking / Rambling / Hiking (up to 5,000m)

* Activity NOT subject to 50% reduction in Personal Accident cover and Medical Expenses Excess not subject to an increase.

 

Activities available on certain policies:

 

Ski & Winter Sports Cover

On policies where this cover is provided the following is included:

 

  • Skiing,
  • Snowboarding (with a leash)
  • Snow Park Activities **
  • Off Piste Skiing and Snowboarding (except in areas designated as unsafe by resort management)
  • Recreational Racing
  • Mono Skiing
  • Guided Cross Country Skiing
  • Snow Mobiling
  • Snow Tubing
  • Snowshoeing (Provided the trip is booked in the UK and is part of an organised tour)
  • Tobogganing
  • Ice Skating

 

** Activities include small and medium jumps up to 30 feet, pipes, boxes and rails.

 

Motorcycle Travel Insurance

 

Cover for motorcycling (riding own motorcycles only and excluding trial/track riding or racing) up to 1500cc will be included when the appropriate premium has been paid.

 

Cover for motorcycling (riding own motorcycles only and excluding trial/track riding or racing) from 1501cc to 1800cc will be included when the appropriate premium has been paid subject to the rider being over 35 years of age and having at least two years experience of riding a comparable motorcycle.

 

There is no cover for Personal Accident (as distinct from Medical Expenses) or Personal Liability motorcycle related claims.
