Ski Montana, USA

If you enjoyed the movie A River Runs Through It with Brad Pitt, then you’ll likely be tempted to plan your next winter sports holiday in Montana.   This is the State famous for the Battle of the Little Big Horn and Custer’s Last Stand.   It also has Yellowstone National Park and Glacier National park among other attractions.

Montana may be a lesser known ski destination, but those in the know can find themselves enjoying fantastic skiing and boarding without the long lift lines of some of the ritzier resorts.   As its name implies (Latin Spanish word meaning ‘mountainous’) the State boasts great mountains, wonderful snow and plenty of après ski fun, restaurants and shopping.    Other activities include helicopter and snowcat skiing or snowmobile tours in Montana’s backcountry.   Try something different and have a go at ice fishing, ice sailing, dog-sledding, or check out a dude ranch.

Big Sky

Located close to Yellowstone Park and Old Faithful, Big Sky is arguably one of the better-known Montana ski areas.    Even in winter you can shed the skis or boards for a day and fulfil that cowboy fantasy with horseback riding or try your hand at fly fishing.

Other Montana ski resorts and areas include Big Mountain, Montana Snowbowl, Bear Paw Ski Area, Blacktail Mountain, Bridger Bowl, Discovery Basin, Great Divide Ski area, Lost Trail, Marshall Mountain, Maverick Mountain, Moonlight Basin, Red Lodge, Teton Pass, Turner Mountain and Showdown Ski area.
