BrusselsBrussels (French: Bruxelles) is mainly geared around business and finance, but is also known for its magnificent architecture, markets, parks, specialty beers and delicious chocolate.   Because of the large number of international visitors, it boasts many world-class restaurants and hotels.  It also has a sophisticated and lively nightlife with its many theatres and clubs. The main spoken language is French, with only a small percentage of Flemish speakers. Currency is the euro.

The centre of Brussels is the location of the 17th century main market square, the Grand Place.  Many beautiful, historic buildings, museums and Gothic facades, as well as cafes and restaurants surround the square.  Events take place regularly, such as antiques markets, music and theatre.

The famous Manneken Pis statue is located close to the Grand Place.  Brussels is a mecca for shopaholics, as well as a treasure trove for culture hounds, with its many museums and places of historic interest.  Brussels is great for browsing, especially the cobbled streets and lace shops, art galleries and antique shops.  The Royal Palace is a popular attraction along with the twin-towered Cathedral of Saints Michel and Gudule.
